Bay Shore Middle School P.F.A.

Can you believe that the summer is over and it's time for school again!  Although I love the summer and the time off from the hectic pace of the school year, I am always excited at the start of a new year.  I look forward to getting to know my children's teachers, meeting new parents, and making plans for the new school year.

The Middle School years are a big transition for our children and I firmly believe that it is important for parents to stay involved.  We hope that you will find the time to attend the PFA meetings. We have wonderful plans for guest speakers on topics we, as parents, need to hear about.  We encourage you to get involved with the Parents as Partners meetings and encourge your friends to do the same.  What better way to get to know your child's teachers than an informal sit down chat to find out all of the upcoming projects and lessons to be covered.  The meetings ore held once per month either early morning or late afternoon depending on the team.   Go in to work late, or take an extended lunch if possible and try to make a few of the meetings.  You will be glad you did!  Volunteer to help with picture day or at a book fair.  Spending an hour or two in the school during the day will help you to see first hand what actually goes on in the halls and the lunch rooms and I think you will be quite impressed!  We don't ask for much of your time at the middle school level and I always find that parents appreciate the opportunity to see the kids in action.

If you have never before come to a PFA meeting or volunteered to help with an activity, take a chance this year and try it - you just might have fun!

I look forward to working with all of you and the wonderful Middle School Administrators as our children begin another school year.  Let's make it another successful one!
